Biography Ray began studying music in depth at the age of 7. He picked up both Piano and Violin lessons and a spot in his Elementary School orchestra. At the age of 10 Ray performed his own music for an intermission at his Elementary School play. In 2002 Ray traveled to New York to perform at the prestigeous Carnegie Hall with the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra, where he played Violin and Timpany. At the age of 15, Ray was well aware of his desire to become an electronic music DJ/Producer and had already started teaching himself to mix vinyl. Feeling that he was only delaying the inevitable, Ray received a High School Diploma 2 years early in order to begin his path through college. After 2 years at Santa Monica Community College, Ray was accepted into the famous Hollywood Musicians Institute. He then studied Popular Piano Styles as well as Commercial Song Writing and Audio Production/Sound Engineering. Ray Mack has been studying privately with his Logic Production teacher from Musician's Institute, Valente Bertelli, for over 4 years. Throughout the last couple years, Ray has played many gigs at clubs all over Southern California. In 2005 he played at a Playboy party in San Francisco alongside DJs LRCN, Jethro and Yoshi. Later that year he played at Spundae LA with DJ Nosmo and the producer BT. Impressing Grant Plant with his solid mixing style Ray was invited back to Spundae. In 2006 Ray was invited to Jakarta, Indonesia by his friend Bruce Jiao Meung to assist in the creation of a new club venue "Episode." Ray assisted with the acoustic treatment of the club as well as helping setup the overall layout and creative decor. After the club opened Ray worked as main resident and headliner alongside the well known local DJs, Jeida and DJ Cello. While in Jakarta Ray got the opportunity to play at the famous club Embassy as well as X-Lounge and Stadium. Ray is back in LA hosting his own radio show on www.digitallyimported.fm. Recently he has had a wide variety of well known guests including: Fine Taste, Nosmo vs. Kris B., Vorsprung, Blastique, Thee-o, Suremy, Shakeh and many others. In the next couple months Ray has many top rank talents booked on his show including Amine Edge, Roland Klinkenberg and Soha. In February 2008 Ray did a remix of "DJ Remy Feat. Shakeh - I'm Alive", which was his first release, as well as his first release with Boiler House Records. With a new 4 track EP nearing completion, Ray at 22 is destined for greatness. It is only a matter of time. |
