I can’t believe that it has been 5 years since I started this show on Digitally Imported Radio (DI.FM). 61 episodes later and it is still going strong! Over the course of the last 5 years I have gradually changed in style and skill level and the journey has been awesome. Hosting Functional Parts really led me to discover my true sound as a DJ and producer. From Progressive House to Electro then to Progressive Tech, Tech House and finally an amalgamation of them all. My genre now is “Anything that is GREAT”. I try to keep an open mind and over the years the best Dance Music being made has shifted and evolved through many different sub-genres. I have had a blast riding the wave and changing with the times and I am truly excited to see where House goes next. So cheers to another 5 Years of Functional Parts and to the future of Dance Music as we know it!

This month I had 6 guests that have all contributed a lot to the show and are some of my favorite DJs/good friends.
Johan Nilsson (aka DJ Irish) is the man who made it possible for me to have this show in the first place. Not only is he a great Progressive House DJ but without him DI would not run so smoothly.

LRCN is the current admin of the Progressive House Channel alongside Johan. LRCN is a long time friend and absolutely amazing DJ. When I was 17 years old LRCN mentored me and taught me the ropes of spinning. Soon after he started teaching me.. I got seduced by the sounds of House music. Thanks to Larson for training me in the ways of the Jedi.

STORM EVENTS DJS:
Storm Events is an event company that I started in the LA/Hollywood area with several of my favorite local DJs and friends. In the last year Storm Events has grown exponentially and the year will culminate in Storm Events opening for ATB and Gabriel & Dresden at The Palladium in Hollywood! Amazing how fast we have grown. So for my 5 year anniversary I decided to showcase the talent that the Storm DJs have to offer.
Zan has provided many excellent mixes for my show over the last couple years and I am looking forward to hearing what he brings this month. He is an extremely badass DJ and I have enjoyed tagging with him on many occasions – including opening for Sultan together at The Standard in Downtown LA.

Sinjun is my co-producer, good friend and fellow Storm resident. We have produced many tracks together as well as his solo projects – recently released on Nueva Digital and Kroton Sound. He has also provided many excellent sets for FP and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for this month.

Skitch became obsessed with mixing in the last couple years and in a short time has gone from just starting out – to being an absolutely unstoppable force on the decks. The mix he provided was performed on the fly and is definitely one of his best mixes yet (and one of my favorite overall mixes of 2010). Dark and chunky with a hint of industrial sounds – this mix kicks ass!

Michel Doga – Our honorary Storm DJ from Spain. Holding down the decks for 15 years now – this guy is absolutely INSANE with his skill. I’m rarely impressed by mixes, but this guy managed to blow my mind.
